Why Wideband (Flat-Response) Sensors Matter

Modern ECUs—such as FuelTech, ECUMaster EMU, Link, Haltech, Microtech, DTA Fast, Megasquirt, and many others—feature advanced knock-detection circuits that shine when paired with a wideband knock sensor.

Unlike older OEM sensors that only targeted a narrow frequency band, wideband sensors deliver a full-range signal, enabling the ECU to:

• Filter knock by crank angle to monitor only critical engine positions

• Distinguish real knock events from background noise

• Provide greater sensitivity and protection, letting tuners safely push for maximum power
